Pittwater Parish music director Josh Willard leads a Jazz band called 'Josh Willard Quintet'. Josh plays the sax and the band also features young parishioner Matt Thomson on keys.

They performed in early Jan 2015 at the famous Lizotte's Dee Why, enlivening diners with sensational Jazz pieces.

Lizotte's has staged Jimmy Barnes, Keith Urban, Grinspoon, Uncle Jed, Katie Noonan, and more music heavyweights. Congratulations Josh and Matt.

100% Soul enjoyed its last function for 2014 by the beach at Mona Vale with a picnic.

All had a great time swimming, eating, playing mafia, and ultimate frisbee. The group hopes to have another picnic even bigger in Dec 2015.

It's grown to be a lovely group of people in 2014 and anyone young in grade 10+ is invited to join the group in its events in 2015.

On Fri 12th Dec, 100% Soul journeyed to Pymble Parish for the last Broken Bay Youth Praise & Worship Night of 2014.

It was a fantastic night, worshipping God with other young people from across the diocese from different walks of life.

Newly appointed Bishop Peter Comensoli gave an insightful and love filled talk on growing with your faith and joined in the praise and worship.

There were outdoor games, small group discussion, a candle procession, and plenty of praise and worship. Simon Hyland was farewelled at his last praise & worship night after 2 years working in the Broken Bay Youth Team.

Soul band members featured heavily in the worship band and did a tremendous job and Fr Rob & Fr George enjoyed joining the Soul group at the event.

The night was officially a hit. What came as an idea in 2010, the dream was realiesed on Saturday night when 90 young adults came along to the inaugural Diocese of Broken Bay Young Adults Dinner.

The organisers of the event were hoping to get 60 people but were happy that 90 booked their spot. It was held at The Epping Club. Soul had 6 participants who all had fun and are keen for the next one next year.

Simon Hyland impressed with a performance, so too did Keiron Conroy. We are proud of them and thank them for entertaining us. The food was great and all look forward to the next young adult social night! Attendees came from all over the diocese which was good to see and has further bonded the young adults of the diocese.

Some were catching up, having not see each other since WYD RIo and ACYF Melbourne last year.

We climbed, flew, jumped, sang, danced, laughed and much more! 32 year 7-9 students joined us for our SPARK Youth Camp at the Southern Cross Outdoor Education Centre!

It was an amazing experience filled with will fun, friendship and faith! The theme of the camp was "Do to others as you would have them do to you"(Mt 7:12).

They arrived with nerves on their faces, not knowing many of the young people there, and unsure what to expect from the next 3 days of the holidays that they would probably rather be spending at home watching movies or at the beach with friends.

However they left feeling sad, sad that they were saying goodbye to many friends they had made over the camp and sad all the fun was over. Many said to me "can't wait for the next Spark!".

Activities included Pirate Climb, Flying Fox and Archery, which unified the group and saw many of the youth break their comfort zones and fears to enjoy what was on offer.

We had reflection time and discussion around camp fires, in the bush, in sacred spaces, and around ping pong tables.

2 highlights of the camp: 1. A guest speaker by the name of Constance

shared with us her struggle to find God during a difficult time in her life and how her willingness to never give up and to keep seeking God is the reason she is filled with God's love today and shares this love with others.

2. The final night where Michael Tobin led a 'Minute to win it' competition which saw teams going head to head in many fun 1 minute games and challenges.

Friday night saw soul sessions leaders and members have a chill night in the parish centre. All had a fun time playing board games, making dinner, and watching the Cosby Show and Fresh Prince.

Soul Sessions leaders Lucie Malone, Ellie Eckton, Miles Abrahams and Ingrid Baader-Irwin have done an excellent job helping lead group sessions at the recent 2014 Parish Confirmation Reflection Day at Mater Maria Catholic College.

The leaders were a great example of young people following God and sharing their faith and skills to the young candidates, mostly in grade 3 from the neighbouring primary schools. They were excellent role models for Soul and the parish and we and Suzy Caruso (Parish Sacramental Coorindator) are very proud of their contributions!
