Tabitha House Building Trips

One of the biggest programs is the bi-annual Cambodia House Building Trip with Mater Maria Catholic College senior students and staff. Beginning in 2007, 2014 will see the 4th group head to Cambodia to build houses for Cambodian families. In the lead up to each trip Soul in partnership with Mater Maria organise 'Show you care' music concerts to raise funds for the house building supplies.

On September 26th Pittwater Parish and Mater Maria high school staged a fund raising concert for house building in Cambodia. In order to raise the necessary money to pay for building materials the SHOW YOU CARE concert was put on. Thanks to the fantastic support of both Parish and school the concert raised almost $13,000! Well done to all the performers and thank you to all who came along. The concert was a huge success and featured many talented performers both professional and non-professional. The SOUL band opened the show and really got the audience going. When special guest star, Samson Hyland – 5 years, joined them onstage the crowd really came alive! Danielle Everett, star of ‘Phantom of the opera’ took the concert to another level with soaring notes and incredible passion. The Mater Maria choir sang wonderfully and school jazz ensemble got us swinging along. Solo performances by Chloe Papandrea, Caroline Mulvenna and Elke Lanzon were a real highlight. Dance troop Plie’ ,groove and shuffle was fantastic. The main feature act of the night was ‘ The Rat Pack’s Back’ – a action packed 30 min show featuring the music of Frank, Dean and Sammy. The crowd was on their feet as Dale Burridge, David Malek and Simon Hyland finished with the iconic ‘My Way’ When the encore ‘Viva Las Vegas’ was sung, complete with show girls, everyone was clapping along.

In November this year, a team from Pittwater will be traveling to Cambodia to build houses for the poorest of the poor. The building team will be made up of members of the SOUL ministry team and other adults from the Parish of Pittwater plus high school students and teachers from Mater Maria Catholic College.

Friends of Soibada

Pittwater Parish has made a friendship with a poor village in Timor Leste named Soibada. 90 per cent of East Timor's school buildings and related infrastructure have been destroyed. A lack of simple resources, such as pens and pencils, has translated into a community disaster. Soul has participated in many fundraising events and concerts to help this community since 2007.
